While this ride is only (only??) 33 miles long, give yourself a long morning & lunch to do it. It feels longer, it is hilly (with some hills that are, er, vertical shall we say?) and to really soak up the stunning scenery you’re going to want plenty of time. It is not one to rush, (your legs won’t thank you) but enjoy.
The ride has it all and on a sunny day, is stunning. Two-by-two riding along quiet country lanes, empty tracks up on the soaring Downs and sleepy farming villages where there are a few tiny gems of coffee shops hiding (lucky you’ve got this book or frankly, you’d never find them).
The surrounding countryside is far reaching, stuffed full of wildlife and you’re going to see pheasant, deer, partridge and even a few hares if you’re lucky. The one thing there is not, however, is traffic (on a whole day’s adventure we saw perhaps a dozen cars). So pop an extra flapjack in your panier, flex your thighs and lets go!
