This lovely gentle route takes you through farmland (mind the sheep) and small villages (mind the villagers). The majority of pedaling is along quiet country lanes, the remainder on double-width track.

Popping over the Thames twice, and including one hill with superbly brilliant views (as long as its neither foggy or sheeting down with rain) it is pretty much the picture-perfect ride for a warm summers day. (Except for the bit through Didcot. That’s totally urban but only lasts for 2 miles. Plus, you can play a fun game called ‘I spy the abandoned shopping trolley’. My record is 4. Just saying).
