This Cotswold ride is for the cyclist wearing Big Boy Pants. Why? Because there are over a dozen hills (steep, but not long), stretches of road where Range Rovers are going at some pretty ballsy speeds and cafés that require an overly confident wallet.
That said, if you’re brave enough to take it on, the views over the rolling hills are far-reaching. You cycle through picture perfect villages with ancient churches, old stone and thatch houses and, conveniently, plenty of wooden benches on idyllic village greens (ideal for a picnic).
It’s the Cotswolds as you imagine it, but, as I’ve stayed away from the busier hubs, no huge coaches trying to overtake you on blind bends or disgorging passengers at the café you’re about to enter. It’s the quieter corners I’ve aimed for. So pull on your big pants, and go forth and conquer!
